Amaranth Prototype

*THIS IS A PROTOTYPE*

Amaranth is my take on the classic Proco Rat. Highly resonant and tweakable, Amaranth expands upon the Rat by allowing you to adjust the specific frequency range it emphasizes. This one also has the coveted LM308 op amp, though I may switch to the modern 0P07 for the final production version.

Controls are:
-VOLUME
-TONE
-GAIN
-EMPHASIS
-FREQUENCY
-CLIPPING DIODE SWITCH

Volume, Tone, and Gain are the standard Rat controls.

EMPHASIS controls by how much it boosts a specific frequency range as opposed to boosting the whole signal. This can be less noticable with some FREQUENCY settings, very noticeable with others.

FREQUENCY is a rotary switch that selects between 4 capacitors. All the way to the right is a warm, bass-heavy sound. The other 3 settings are more full-range, with an emphasis in the upper/mid frequencies. The GAIN pot is also part of the frequency equation, so sweeping through the GAIN pot will also change the resonant frequency. Lower gain settings places the emphasis higher, whereas higher gain settings move the resonant peak lower. So clean and bright, fuzzy and thick, or anything in between.

CLIPPING DIODE SWITCH has the original 1N914's, LED clipping a la Turbo Rat, and no clipping diodes for full-on op amp distortion.

Sorry for the poor explanation, I'll get something more eloquent written out before I do the final production version.
